Structural Medicine is a personalized treatment approach, unique to the field of soft tissue manipulation. After a thorough intake and evaluation, Jessica collaborates with her clients to create a treatment plan that will address specific health issues including chronic pain and movement dysfunction. Myofascial release is combined with Myofascial Length Testing (MFLT), movement therapy, and postural re-education.
Myofascial Length Testing (MFLT)
Myofascial Length Testing (MFLT) was created by physical therapist and founder of the Institute of Structural Medicine, Donna Bajelis PT, CHP, SMS. Ms. Bajelis wanted an effective and accurate testing approach that would help her thread through some of the complex symptoms that many of her clients were having. MFLT provides objective information for education and can help to determine whether or not the treatment plan needs to change. This allows each session to be personalized and precise.
Body Awareness and Pain Reduction: An Integrated Process
The body is always negotiating its relationship to gravity, endeavoring to reach homeostasis. Many of us feel the effects of disharmony in the body in the form of pain and discomfort, both physically and emotionally. Structural Medicine uses verbal dialogue and movement re-education to help uncover emotional beliefs and unconscious movements that may be contributing to the loss of postural integrity and healthy movement patterns. Through empowered awareness and sense of self, many clients can return to activities with greater range of motion and strength.
